There are a lot of things on other websites I can’t stand and wish I could change, but of course I can’t legally do that.

That’s where the Greasemonkey add-on for Firefox comes in…

This add-on allows you to make the pages you view more efficient or at least less annoying by changing the source code as they appear in your browser (it does nothing to change the web page itself and will not effect anyone else).

There are thousands of little scripts already available to download once you install the add-on.

I use one to skip the today screen on Hotmail and another to disable media players and flash animations on MySpace. My personal favorite though is the script that automatically logs you in to whatever website you are visiting.

Other scripts I have seen will automatically poke back people on Facebook, enhance your queue on Netflix, or change e-mail links to compose a message using Gmail or Yahoo.

Check it out if it sounds interesting. I’ll find a less geeky add-on to share tomorrow.
