That Smith

On Thursday I came across the website The Best Stuff in the World and mentioned it here on the site because I thought it was interesting. Now after playing around with it for only two days I received this e-mail from its creators:

Subject: We think you’re cool

Hi thatsmith.

We really like your contribution to the site. The things you have added are really cool. As a token of our appreciation we’ve updated your member status to a trusted member. Basically what this means is that you will be able to remove images and categories and ‘timeout’ stuff that is inappropriate or spammy. You will have more power to do what you want with the site. We ask at this time, that you do not ‘timeout’ spelling errors or semantically similiar items of stuff. We do have features planned to link these items together.

This is only the beginning. We will be integrating more features in future just for you!

While I am pleased to receive this kind of acknowledgment, I am even more astonished that there is actually a Web 2.0/user-generated-content website out there that takes the time to thank their members in a way such as this — especially when they are still in the process of growing.

I don’t see myself spending more time on their site to take advantage of the offer, but wanted to share this because I thought it was a nice gesture on their part. Plus, how many new sites can you name hand over control to their users?
