New Job
By Chad • Jan 10th, 2007 • Category: Daily LifeWe’ve been in Wichita for about a week and a half and neither of us have said much of what’s going on. As most of you know, my last day working at the turnpike was the day before our move and I wasn’t able to get anything lined up here before leaving Emporia.
Well, yesterday I was offered and accepted a management position at a store that sells overpriced furniture to poor people. I start Monday and have a few more interviews at other places this week before I am tossed into the abyss of meaningless, lower middle-class employment.
My intention is to have this job provide a paycheck just long enough to find something that actually interests me and isn’t a drain on society. (Why should I feel comfortable convincing Wichita’s lower class pay $600 – $800 extra for “lease services” when most other places have a moral and valid reason for not extending them credit?)
We finished unpacking the middle of last week and just did some couch swapping. I would like to thank everyone that helped us move (especially Christen and Ryan) and those of you that have already visited us to make Laura happy.
