Sound Intelligent: 5 Simple Steps
By Chad • Jun 17th, 2007 • Category: AdviceA while back I found an article by Patricia Fripp called Sound intelligent, powerful, polished, articulate, and confident.
I have followed Patricia’s advice for the past several months, and to my surprise, not only do people listen to what I have to say, they get the impression that I am intelligent and know what I am talking about.
The tip I use the most is:
TO SOUND MORE INTELLIGENT:
Speak just a bit slower to allow yourself to select your most appropriate vocabulary and to give the impression of thoughtfulness.
Speaking slowly seems to add the most to what I say because it makes it appear that I have carefully selected my words. My only warning is do not slow down too much or people might start to think you are drunk or retarded.
