Good Karaoke Project

I thought I’d share a project I’ve been working on for the past few weeks called Good Karaoke.

I have been writing a social network / song search engine for karaoke singers and DJs. The social network side is not quite ready because I still need to add search and relational aspects, but the song list widgets are done and ready to be sent out to karaoke DJs.

I made the widgets for my family’s Open Mike Music karaoke website because I wanted an easier way for singers to view and search our song list that didn’t require downloading a large file. Then the idea for Good Karaoke hit me because I figured it would be a nice thing for other DJs too.

While I don’t have any major plans for Good Karaoke, I do see it as eventually being a place for singers to find places to sing and people to sing with based on their favorite songs. The backend of the site is written in PHP and has been set up so I can easily turn on demographic sensitive ads (like you see on Facebook) that are geared towards music or local clubs.

An example widget will show up above if you’re viewing this on my site; you can also see it in action on Open Mike Music.
