E-Commerce with Drop Cart

Update: I recently acquired dropcart.com, so No Cart is now Drop Cart!

The secret is out. My big project that required me to make Open Analytics is called No Cart Drop Cart.

Drop Cart is a solution I came up with for bloggers and small businesses who have the desire to create an online store, but not necessarily the know-how or ability to set up and use a shopping cart platform.

The way it works is simple: store items are added to a page using simple HTML, and are then detected by the Drop Cart script. When an item is clicked, the script adds that item to the user’s shopping cart – all of which is tracked using Open Analytics.

Check out the Drop Cart page for a demo (click where it says [Closed Beta]) or see it in action on Laura’s new online store Old Laundry. There are still a few things to be done before the service is opened to the public, such as making a Drop Cart generator and a secure version that will work where JavaScript is not allowed (like on twitter and MySpace) — done see my upcoming announcement on No Cart for details on this.

Follow me or Drop Cart on twitter for update notifications on the project.
