Please ship my dining room table, and try not to break it for the sixth time
By Chad • Jan 13th, 2008 • Category: Advice, Daily LifeAccording to my wife’s account, our e-mail exchange, and our winter roommate, FedEx arrived with the table around 1:55pm. The delivery driver proceeded to unload the large, 80.3 lb (56″ x 38″) box by himself, dropped it out of the back of the truck, stood there, and then dragged it through our front yard to the front door. He then tapped lightly on the door as if it were a sad, apologetic knock, and ran off.
The entire time my wife was watching through the office window. She put on her coat before opening the door, and by the time she opened it, he was already in the truck heading down the street. Within about 15 seconds of his gentle knock there was already a note on the tracking page that said it had been left at the front door and that signature service was not requested.
This glass top did not shatter, but does have a pretty nasty chip out of one of the corners.
Since they delivered it and left us with no way of sending it back to Hillsdale, we decided to use it until we get one that isn’t damaged. It looks like crap, but it is nice to have a place to sit down and eat.
Once again, I called CSN Stores about a replacement. The rep asked me to hold, because she wanted me to speak with a supervisor. I then spoke with someone named Lucy about the delivery, and was affirmed that a signature is in fact required.
She told me they would have Hillsdale ship the next one via GFE since the problem seems to be FedEx, and that I will receive yet another confirmation e-mail within an hour.
That confirmation e-mail was never sent, but I did receive two others three days later:
